Appellant James Belanger appeals the District Courts departure from the Sentencing Guidelines, Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, 18 U.S.C. 脗§ 3551 et seq., in sentencing him to 24 months imprisonment for making false statements in connection with the purchase of a firearm. The District Court departed from the Guidelines because appellants extensive criminal history was not adequately taken into account by the Guidelines. We agree that departure was appropriate and therefore AFFIRM the judgment of the District Court.
